About

I am Tim Norton: a very ordinary man, but saved by God’s grace.  I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while, and have decided to take the plunge.  I don’t pretend to have much wisdom or insight.  My hope is that the discipline of writing will make me think about and understand the lessons that my Heavenly Father is teaching me.  Everything that happens comes from His loving hand, and is intended for my good and His glory.  But very often, in the noise and bustle of life, I crash on without considering what I am being taught.  There is much more to learn about God, myself and more: let’s see where we go.  So this is primarily for me, but if my lessons can help others, then all well and good.

So who am I?  I live in Crawley, England, but feel my roots to be strongly in Salisbury.  I am a member and deacon at Maidenbower Baptist Church.  I am married to my wonderful wife, Rachel, and we have three children: Daisy, Elijah and Daniel.  I work for the Environment Agency as a team leader in incident management.  Between work, home and church life seems pretty busy, demanding and rewarding (what’s a hobby?!) and these areas will probably be where most of my thinking is focussed.

I have called the blog ‘A day’s march’ because one of the things that does me good, and which I tend to forget, is that this earth is not my home.  I am a stranger and a pilgrim here, each day pitching my tent closer to my heavenly home.  There is a day coming when I will see the Lord Jesus face to face, and until that day my eye should be fixed on Him, my mind taken up with Him, and my heart overflowing with love for Him.  I cannot do this when I forget Him and behave as if my treasure was on earth.
